Sprayberry High School is Proud to Welcome New Varsity Head Coach Maisie Steed and Community Coach Greg Giles!



Varsity Head Coach - Maisie Steed

Coach Steed is entering her first year as the Lady Jackets head softball coach.   A product of Cobb County, she graduated from Hillgrove High School in 2012 where she played both basketball and softball.  She played travel softball for the Georgia Impact and Atlanta Vipers organizations, making many trips to Colorado and Oklahoma City over the years.

She continued her playing career at The University of Kentucky where she was a 4 year starter, team captain, All-SEC Academic team member, All-SEC Defensive team member, Frank G. Ham Society of Character Inductee, and All-America Scholar Athlete.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion Magna Cum Laude. 

Coach Steed spent time as an assistant coach at Georgia State University during the 2017 season, and currently gives lessons through Champions Fast Pitch Academy. 

Coach Steed is engaged to Andrew Hynninen and will be getting married in November, 2017.

Community Coach - Greg Giles

Greg Giles enters his first season as a community coach with Sprayberry High School.

Prior to Sprayberry, he was a volunteer assistant coach for the Kennesaw State softball program, with his responsibilities including areas of the outfield and hitting.
Giles also had a very successful coaching run with the Atlanta Vipers fast pitch organization, with his last three teams earning final national finishes in the top five. In 2013, Giles guided his 18U Gold team to the National Championship.
Giles played collegiately at Gadsden State Junior College and Georgia State, receiving his bachelor degree in Health and Education from GSU in 1982. He and his wife Wendy have two daughters, Jesse and Kaci and reside in Kennesaw.
